Major updates coming to Gmail

neither is inbox?

I replied in context with the article,

The changes will reportedly also include easy access to G Suite apps from within Gmail.

I guess there will be native integration, also allowing 'more accessible' administration.

Inbox by Gmail is an alternative for Gmail and inbox.google.com is an alternative for gmail.com, Inbox by Gmail is not a G Suite app.

Yes it is... https://support.google.com/a/answer/6082718?hl=en
People loved it and asked for business support way back when Inbox first appeared.

No.

That is an instruction on how to enable the alternative for choice, to quote,

Users can switch between Inbox and Gmail

Your users have access to both Inbox and Gmail, and they can use either one based on their preference. To switch from Inbox to Gmail, your users can go to mail.google.com.

https://gsuite.google.com/features/

As you can see it is not an connect app, it is an alternative to Gmail.

Still an Gsuite app and you can set it up So that Gmail always redirects to Inbox. I've got it set up like that because I prefer inbox and it's "to do list" type approach to mail.

No. Inbox for Gmail is Gmail (core app), it only serves as an alternative. No, they have their own respective links, also pending on how your organisation is configured,

gmail.com
inbox.google.com

Go have a look at the latest Google Admin, see where to enable it, but for using inbox.google.com you need to install the app (Inbox by Gmail) and login before accessing it.

There is a good reason that it is called Inbox by Gmail.

I tried Inbox, didn't like it. Stayed on Gmail. Didn't see it as being told to move over.

I've been enjoying Inbox - hope it also gets some major updates though - maybe some theme support would be a welcome addition...

It was a big push from within the Gmail application itself - definitely being promoted as the "better" option for accessing your email.

Been a gmail user since it was by invitation only and honestly don't recall hearing about this inbox thing, I had too goole it now.

Neither did I. Seems google skipped some of us.

One of the main reasons I use Inbox is to 'Snooze' emails - so you get the same email again at a later specified date/time.
I primarily use Gmail - when I get an email I don't want to deal with immediately but know I have to at some point, I open Inbox and snooze it there. Now this feature looks like it's coming to Gmail I probably will have no need for Inbox anymore!

All of you gmail users :

You're aware of [email protected], right?

But are you aware that [email protected] and [email protected] AND [email protected] is all the same?

Going to make for fun phishing attempts  :D

Refer to this article by El Reg : https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/04/10/gmail_netflix_phishing_vector/

I often register on websites with [email protected]
E.g. [email protected] - that way when spam shows up on that specific address, I know which website leaked my information :p
