Make DA Circle Bigger!!!

Joburg Metro at 14:29 - ANC 43.9% and DA 50.0% (2006: ANC 62.29% and DA 27.05%); 24% counted vs 2006 Total #LGEResults

OMG this is so exciting. Everytime I see the JHB result you guys are posting my ass clenches tighter than a straight guy in a gay club! It is exhausting!!!!!!

please to all the gods above...let DA take JHB!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tshwane at 14:25 - ANC 61.2% and DA 32.8% (2006: ANC 56.35% and DA 30.69%); 59% counted vs 2006 Total #LGEResults

Those values are identical to the 13:23 timestamp, looks like the IEC are on lunch.

Is it safe to assume Cape Town has been retained by DA? What do you guys think of Patricia as mayor? I rather like her.....daai vrou het nou regtig nie op haar bek geval nie. Think she will be good....what you guys think?

The whole "One settler, one bullet" thing she was on about still leaves a bad taste. Also, I trust her as far as I can throw her. Fence sitter of note. The ID sided with the ANC against the DA and still lost at one stage, then all of a sardine she wanted to make nice with the DA. Now she has - and she's set to be the mayor.

She's a bit of a snake.

She is still a hell of a lot better than most of the ANC cadres currently making decisions.

No, dude like most of the politicians, she is a careerist trying to put food on the table for her kids.

Like I read somewhere today, DA isnt perfect but the lesser of 2 evils which sums it up perfectly. Competition is always a good thing unless the girl's boyfriend pitches :P

All updates on the IEC website have stopped, data is 90 minutes old.

She's very good at what she does, I'll give her that. I'd rather have her as mayor than bullet tooth Tony.

Excellent news, my favourite SA town is won by the DA :D

I hope their first order of business is to reroute the N2 AROUND Knysna. 45mins to drive through that hippy-infested little place during tourist season is just not cricket.

Am somewhat dissapointed with the DA's national vote result thus far http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/Local-Elections-2011/DA-set-for-its-best-performance-yet-20110519

By noon, with 63% of the votes finalised nationally, the African National Congress stood at 63.36%, while the Democratic Alliance was on 22.67%, following South Africa's fourth post-apartheid local government elections on Wednesday.
In the last municipal elections in 2006, the ANC walked away with 64.8% of the vote, the DA with 16% and the Inkatha Freedom Party with 7.6%.
In 2000, the ANC garnered 59% of the local vote, the DA 22% and the IFP 9%.
