He should appoint Mark "Grummz" Kern to head the studio. The man is basically raising his hand.

This is too funny considering he's supposedly addicted to Diablo 4, you know the game owned by the same company that he's beefing with now.

Anyway, good luck to them, I have a feeling how this will go though.

He is good at it though.

So many life lessons to be learned from speedrunning video games on max difficulty. Teaches you to see the matrix, rather than simply exist in the matrix.

Diablo Tier 150 finished in under 2 mins.

AI is so mid. please no. use it to randomly place different grass blades maybe

Instead of buying anything maybe he should invest in Indies that align with his view of good games.

EG: Baldurs Gate 3.
Indie Studio.
AAA Budget.

Mark Kern?
Seriously?

The guy that took kickstarter money, didn't finish the game, paid nothing back, never faced any consequences and now spends his time doing nothing but bitch and moan online?

No

No

Yeah, same guy.

This is the future I want for my kids.

Since I was a kid I wanted to work for NASA, but I got really really cynical about it as they failed to deliver.

When I visited Space X, I believed again. I haven't talked about in long, long time, but I want to help paint the picture of what we can be, if we try.

I'm signing up for the mission, in any way I can to help achieve it. Games can help make space fun and ignite imaginations too.

As I said, he raised his hand.

Realistically, It shouldn't be too hard to get into gaming development for a person like Elon, he could've bought Zenimax/Bethesda several times over with just the Twitter money.

If we are talking about starting from scratch though - then I think he underestimates the gaming industry if he thinks it's easy, or cheap.

WotC and Hasbro co-own the Baldur's Gate IP. Hasbro is WoTC's parent. To separate the two could be an IP disaster. To buy Hasbro it will likely have to be broken up due to competition rules. I can't see what good it would do Larian Studios to be acquired by X.

Though Larian can be argued to be classed as indie, they are their own publisher too. They have had success with the Divinity series, and hit it rich with Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian won’t pursue D&D IP any more, and I think they have now two big and one small game in the works. It is a bit hard to see Swen Vincke team up with Elon Musk.

Musk is now enticing his cohorts with Hasbro bait. Hasbro is more than PC games. It is a lot to put on your shoulders.

I do think that Musk will go ahead with his game studio, but I won't be surprised to see it being Epic like. xAI develops a game engine specialised in AI creation. It is also a marketplace where games, apps, and assets can be sold. Now and then, when a title is liked, xAI will back it, slapping their name on it. It will never be like Valve.

No company will replace Valve, anyone who thinks they can deconstruct it is doing a disservice to consumerism.

As it is, the loudest dev that sings praise to Musk's plan is not the most ethical and best practised person. The vibe is strange.

Now and then, on X, Musk and John Cormack share thoughts. I like Cormack, and he is leaning strong towards AI or, well, AGI. Though I can't see Cormack saddle up with Musk. Cormack is in a strong position to do his own things.
