Though Larian can be argued to be classed as indie, they are their own publisher too. They have had success with the Divinity series, and hit it rich with Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian won’t pursue D&D IP any more, and I think they have now two big and one small game in the works. It is a bit hard to see Swen Vincke team up with Elon Musk.

Musk is now enticing his cohorts with Hasbro bait. Hasbro is more than PC games. It is a lot to put on your shoulders.

I do think that Musk will go ahead with his game studio, but I won't be surprised to see it being Epic like. xAI develops a game engine specialised in AI creation. It is also a marketplace where games, apps, and assets can be sold. Now and then, when a title is liked, xAI will back it, slapping their name on it. It will never be like Valve.

No company will replace Valve, anyone who thinks they can deconstruct it is doing a disservice to consumerism.

As it is, the loudest dev that sings praise to Musk's plan is not the most ethical and best practised person. The vibe is strange.

Now and then, on X, Musk and John Cormack share thoughts. I like Cormack, and he is leaning strong towards AI or, well, AGI. Though I can't see Cormack saddle up with Musk. Cormack is in a strong position to do his own things.

Hasbro can be acquired like Twitter was as it is a public company.

Larian is private and can't see any world where Sven Vincke sells to musk. Been outspoken about developers selling out to corporates and their employees then getting treated like crap. Musk doesn't have a good reputation in regards to treating employees.

I will give you a very very short summary. I you were technically unable to access I would you more but I am sure as hell not given you full summary cause of some strange boycot you have going.

Musk & others like him have a clear boycot ongoing for any game that has no white male in it.

Their first outrage attempt against avowed started because of the below image:

Now the second has started because of the horror of pronouns in the game.

The author goes to explain there is no other so called "woke" elements in the game.

Its a grift were those who try to create these outrages coin it through engagements.
 
@stefan9 I don't want to give Kotaku any clicks because they make ad revenue through misinformation. So I've boycotted them for a long while now.

Thanks for the summary. It's like I said in a previous post. I have nothing against the pronouns and I think that's going way overboard by those people.

Obsidian's art director is unhinged though which is a shame. I love Obsidian's games. Even Pentiment was outstanding.
 
Maybe he should team up with Chris Roberts.
