Hi. I'm wondering if its possible to create a web proxy server on your own home pc like for eg. ninja proxy.

I would like to be able to use ssl as well.

thanks in advance

I'm sure you could just run Squid

The thing is that I want to sit at work, type in my home proxy url in firefox and get presented with a page much like ninja proxy does. Does this make any sense?

I dont think squid will do that as it doesn't serve web pages.

Lol. The firewall at work getting you down?

Perhaps you could install Apache and run PHPProxy or something similar. Also look at a DynDNS for your home pc so you don't have to remember the IP each day

I've already got the server thing going and using dyndns.com :) (running sabnzbd at home)

but I have no clue where to start with this project. I'm sure it has to be possible.

Isn't there a program that I can just install and then open the ports on my router for it?

I think it would just be ports 80 and 443.

There might be a program. You should ask in the software sub forum, maybe the networking sub forum!

Smootwall is teh awesome firewall.

I Googled and it seems pretty cool. Pity I don't have a spare box to set up on though. VirtualBox chows my ram so that isn't really an option.

It sounds like it would be perfect for splitting numerous ISPs:D
