Unless it was a big mob who got the whole crowd to boo at the the minister. Doubt the policeman can arrest them all ey :)
 
@Dominic...A couple of noob questions. Is ICASA funded by our tax money? Im presuming it is. If you cant get them to answer or acknowledge mails or comunications do you just need to work your way up the chain of command shouting (or being an obsequious sychophant) till you get service or is there some other way?
The other question is if you are setting up wireless networks that provide internet access and this service crosses property boundaries is this civil disobedience or just a criminal act. Whats the difference between Civil and criminal disobedience fi that is a valid question?

they are funded out of the national revenue fund - i guess you could day that is taxpayer's money..i am not sure exactly how it is made up

getting answers from ICASA? they are in crisis so you either need a big stick or a mountain of patience...obsequious sycophancy should never be worth it :)

civil disobedience is a principled act of disregard for the law - for example a coloured politician in the 80's phoning the press and saying that he is goinjg for a swim from a whites-only beach

not sure there really is a corresponding term "criminal disobedience" - civil disobedience involves breaking the law and there may be criminal consequences

whether "wireless networks that provide internet access and this service crosses property boundaries is this civil disobedience or just a criminal act?" - personally i see it as neither ;)
 
Thanks D. Maybe I was talking about criminal or civil charges being brought about from doing particular actions. Not really sure what Im talking about tho' so no worries.
 
it is more accurate to speak of civil action (in a legal sense) - which is a private action between two individuals/companies - suing for damages for a breach of contract

criminal action is State versus...i.e. the state presses charges because you have committed an offence

so OJ was not guilty of murder (criminal - beyond reasonable doubt) but liable in civil law for damages for the death of his ex (civil - on a balance of probabilities)

here endeth the lesson ;)

dominic, dominic why do you always confuse the issues. Thabo Mbeki or
or the ANC and anybody else for that matter can press charges with the police. But the SAPS can't prosecute anybody the http://www.npa.gov.za does this as was explained here: http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/LegalPerspective

You are deliberatly misrepresenting the facts to further your own agenda and
that is to keep the public in constant debilitating fear of Legislation - legislation that nobody other than the http://www.npa.gov.za can enforce and they won't and you know this.

captain my captain your misguided paranoia has a deathgrip on your logic -

apologies if i was not clear - the state (which includes the npa and the saps and the courts) prosecutes crimes and you are right - anyone may press charges

as for the rest, well...

got there late and all the saamies were gone :(

very interesting session and i have managed to get some nice documents :)

were questions like:
It seems to me that the Regulator is happy to take on the small players but will not put itself on the line taking on the bigger guys to bring down costs, to say R15bill profit is too much.......is ICASA really up to the task????


...but more on this later...got a plane to catch so i can see them all again in Jhb tomorrow
