Whats the best way to cook gemsquash? I generally just poke a hole in them and dump then into water for 25 minutes, although I find the consistency a little stringy. My work somehow gets the texture really smooth

I just steam mine, but what I used to do is to cut it in half and put it in the oven with a dash of butter inside.

The stringiness has less to do with the cooking and more to do with the age. Younger gem squash isn't as stringy as the more mature fruits...

Aye, cut and steamed and then scoop it all out, add way more butter than I should and salt and yumyum time

When I am lazy I just cut them in half, deseed, add fresh crushed garlic and olive oil, salt pepper, put on a plate add water to plate, over with plastic microwave dome, and microwave on high for 4 minutes. Works a treat

The same, but I use garlic butter.

Is it true that gem squash has no nutritional value?

Boil halves. Add margarine and sugar. Swirl around. Eat out of the skin. Eat the skin.
