Hi everyone

I have had an business idea and would like to ask what you guys think of it.

The idea entails buying quad bikes and hiring them our for a fee. I've done some calculation and depending on the number of customers, its possible to make about R50K a month just from hiring out 4 quad bikes.

What are the regulatory requirements for such a business and where can i rent out quad trails for my customers?

R12.5k per bike per month?
~R420 per bike per day?

Your peak times are going to be weekends and public holidays. You will need insurance cover. You could probably use any of the 4x4 trails as quad bike trails, some nice ones near Bronkhorstspruit.

I think your calculations are really dodge :/

Keep in mind Mon-Thurs you will have basically no business.

I don't think it is realistic to look at 7 days of business. I would focus on filling your books for the weekend and then come up with "corporate team-building" events during the week. You will hardly be able to fill bookings on weekdays unless its during holidays. You will also need to have access to a decent quad bike trail which can accommodate you for 1-2 hour outrides.

Did a quad-bike run a few weeks back - 2-hour outride for 3 people @ R1500 - bikes and trail was good and only downside was the lack of a bar/braai-facilities afterwards. You will also need to take into account servicing of bikes and possibly liability insurance. If you manage 4 bikes and have eight 2-hour runs on the weekend you will gross about 50K per month though.
