Making tea correctly

I only have tea at home.

Boil water in Kettle on the stove> add 2 bags per cup calculation>brew for 15 to 20 minutes. Add sugar to cup and pour in tea, If you can see the bottom of the cup give up and walk away.

Use a proper mug. Dont use plastic or dear gosh a polystyrene cup.
Filter your water if it comes from the tap; carbonates (Ca, Mg) bond to the molecules that give tea its flavour
Steep for 5 minutes. Not more, not less. No, it will not ruin the tea (this isnt green tea you are making)

Give it a try :)

I always thought it was a bad idea to stir your teabag too much, but especially to squeeze it out at the end - this helps release more a certain something, something that can result in a more bitter aftertaste

Going to be rejected if it is not freshly ground from decent beans. *erm*

More points if you roast them yourself.
Real men go hunt their tea in India and cures it on the ship during the return journey..

I love mah coffee but a good cuppa tea is sometimes more refreshing..

My standard way of making tea is:
  1. Teabag and sugar in mug.
  2. Pour boiling water to 3/4 of mug's height.
  3. Give it a few stirs.
  4. Let it steep for a couple of minutes.
  5. Add milk and stir again.
  6. Squeeze teabag and throw away.
  7. Drink the tea.

Sometimes I will do it differently:
  1. Boil 1/2 mug milk in microwave.
  2. Throw in teabag and sugar, and fill rest of mug with boiling water.
  3. Stir (for very long, like 5 minutes) until milk is coloured the standard brown of tea.
  4. Throw teabag.
  5. Drink the tea.

I drink about 3 mugs of tea a day. On cold days, I drink a lot more.

Edit:
How come so many people like tea?

I can only speak for myself. It is calming. If I have a headache, a cup of tea usually helps.

English or Rooibos tea tastes better if you add the teabag to the milk, then adding boiling water.

But I only drink green tea, so its teabag in cup first, then add boiling water.

Get loose tea leaves. Put it in the French Press. Don't smell it. Wait 5 minutes. Press it. Don't smell. Pour it into a heated cup. Don't smell it. Add lots of sugar and some milk. Pour out into the sink and get some nice fresh coffee beans.

Put the water in first, drop the teabag in, no airbubbles in the teabag (it sinks of it's own accord) ;)

Air in the bag would allow more space for the leaves to twirl so stronger tea and more flavour.

Two groups of people drink tea:

Menopausal women and samurais.

The way it says on the box...every tea is different and you'll be astounded to find most decent teas have exact instructions and recommendations on the side.

Some recommend milk even, others don't.

Stick to the temperature and allow for the correct time and your tea will be fine.

Don't squeeze the bag.
