Malema's millions

He still has to pay personal income tax on top of that. By claiming he owns R20 000 a month it is obvious he isn't declaring all his earnings.

Now you have lost me.
Is there a way of dodging income tax if you are employed...? If there is please let me know as I desparately could use a break.

Its good to be black in the new South Africa..... in the new South Africa you don't even need an education, the only requirement you need to have a black skin and you qualify as a director.

And a pulse. And a face. Stiff requirements.

Any money that comes out of those companies for his personal use is taxable, over and above any salary he earns from the ANC YL. Dividends, profits on shares and any other personal income that is not a salary is also taxable, this is NOT done by the company but rather the individual.. You can dodge if you don't declare, however in this instance it has become obvious.

A pulse is optional :D

PARIS Mashile, chairman of Icasa, the powerful broadcasting and telecoms regulator, is often asleep in his office during the day, with his shoes off, according to his former executive secretary. In her exit interview, Shameen Naidoo describes Mashile as a person who, in the few hours he was both at Icasa and awake, did his own private work and ignored his official correspondence for weeks at a time.

what fsking moron ... hopefully he will soon drive into a tree like our pal mandoza

everyone seems to think that Julius Malema is just an idiot who is no threat to anyone. well i just feel that this guys level of stupidity IS very dangerous.

the things he has gotten away with saying are just plain ridiculous. if i were to say half the stuff this guy has said about black people i would have been killed or arrested. why is he being allowed to say and do as he pleases?

and now this?

i work for a financial institution and am required by law to report any behaviour which could be pointing to tax evasion etc. now here's Julius who clearly is getting large sums of cash and paying for houses etc. out in the open and SARS haven't bothered investigating and locking him up for tax crimes?

this is some kind of joke right? SARS wont allow this kind of thing to happen so blatantly .... ........ right?

Okay, now I've just realised your lack of political grasp. I think we're done.

P.S. socialism != communism

You are right, I don't have a clue... I always thought that communists always pursued a socialist economic agenda.

+1. He got an F for woodwork but is "director" of 4 companies? LOL only in africa

But we know this is not going to happen - as said above "all animals are equal, but some more than others". In this country it PAYS to forget morals, leave honor and dignity behind and be corrupt...
Small crash course on the new Companies Act: Directors are now judged (when determining legal liability) according to how much they should have known/realized based on experience & education. So a hot shot lawyer is expected to be sharp at all times. A woodwork champion on the other hand is judged according to lower standards. Sad but true.

On the tax issue, Jungleboy is right (omg). It is very possible to structure things in such a way that he pays minimal tax, especially if you have a couple of grand to throw at a tax specialist. He probably pays less tax than most on this forum.

On the company side, most of these BEE deals are structured as long term loans, so the actual income recognized is fairly small. Most of the actual value comes from gains in the underlying shares which, being subject to CGT, aren't taxed nearly as heavily as say salaries.

With some starting capital + connections + BEE legislation + hotshot advisors the end result can be profitable, tax efficient and *legal*.:o

Unfortunately you lack the ability to see that socialist don't always pursue a communist agenda. And since you equated socialism to communism and not the other way around, I guess you don't have a clue. I did not refer to Julius Malema as a communist at any point. Is France a communist country? I Sweden a communist country? For some reason you don't seem to grasp the fact that you can be a socialist without being a communist.

Here's the kicker: the ANC is a socialist party! Unfortunately there are always Orwellian pigs in every socialist environment... :/

Malema is a political hot potato, doubt it if SARS wil properly investigate him.

People on this forum are ridiculous. Just because he's making headlines is no reason not to audit him. Why do you people always think this country is already a Zimbabwe? SARS is unrelenting and they've already mentioned they are targeting individuals like Malema.

Everyone here is so blind to see that Malema has no future in the party. The moment Zuma is gone his little mannequin goes with him. Julius has made too many enemies to get the votes he needs outside of the Youth League, trust me. He has got one thing right though, keep your eye on Mantashe - a clever communists is a frightening though indeed!

Aw come-on!

Mal-enema get hundreds of thousands from companis that pay for BEE acreditation... He is listed as a shareholder and in return he gets a truck load of cash for selling his skin colour to the highest bidder.

How you think all the other high ranking politicians make money?! Look at Tokyo Sexwale... he is not as 'innocent' as it appears to be.

ANC dismisses Malema lifestyle report:

The ANC and its youth league have demanded a retraction and an apology from The Star newspaper for a report on league president Julius Malema's lifestyle.

"These reports are not only far-fetched, but they are also untrue as much as they are deceitful," the ANC and ANC Youth League said in a joint statement.

Here is the funny bit:

In our view they are meant to tarnish the good name and image of the ANC Youth League president.

Since when does Malema have a good name and image:erm::cry::p:D

This is also funny:

ANCYL spokesman Floyd Shivambu accused the newspaper of being nonsensical.

:wtf: coming from Floyd :p

......and the race card:

Malema adds: "If we are going to refuse the youth to drive these cars it means they are only good for white youth. Ours will never drive those cars. So we must sit and appreciate the good things by whites and not by one of our own. That's what we're trying to break."
