Malva Pudding Recipie

My wife makes an awesome malva pudding but damned if I know if there is a recipe in this house.

I'm not a pudding person.

Rather give another helping of the savoury dish.

Love Malva pud and thought I would give it a go, following recipe given above ......my first problem.
Could not sift dry ing as my son used my sieve to clean the bearded dragons cage ,
mixed it all together wanted to prep the sauce......cream has vanished :wtf:
while its in the oven pop to the shop for more cream......as I open the front door ...something is burning...
my bowl was to small it went over the edges
Now i am waiting for a pudding which has a crater!!! in the middle :(

here is a desert you will make over and over again it is delicious. i've had this recipe for years, it is similar to the malva pudding but much "betterer".

you must make it in a large dish even though the batter looks like it is such a little because once you pour the liquid over it, it expands.

batter
5 ml bicarb
125 ml milk
200 g self raising flour
100 g white sugar
2 eggs
30 ml smooth apricot jam
20 g very soft butter/marg
1 ml salt

sauce
250 ml cream
250 ml water
230 g butter/marg
200 g white sugar
5 ml vanilla essence

oven 180 degrees.
spray 2 l oven proof dish.
dissolve bicarb in milk. mix the remaining batter ingredients together, stir in the milk mixture and mix very well. spoon the batter into the dish - don't use a smaller dish, even if the batter seems to little for the dish. bake for 25 to 30 mins.

sauce mixture
mix all the sauce ingredients together and bring to the boil. pour the hot sauce, a little at a time, over the HOT pudding as soon as it comes out of the oven.
stand for a while and allow the sauce to absorb. serve lukewarm with ice cream.

this is so yummy.

This looks nice gonna try it tonight.

pooky - did you make the pudding? i'm going to make it tomorrow. haven't made it in a long time.

Okay I made your pudding Celine. The sauce was a hell of a lot for the amount of cake stuff it made. It is also much lighter than a malva pudding. At the moment it is sitting absorbing the sauce. I hope it is nice, will post a pic a bit later.

you need to pour the sauce over the cake slowly for it to absorb into the cake properly.
