It's an old problem, fixed in Settings. Probably the latest updates. In the past 24h a whole slew of Google apps were updated - some could be harvesting new data in new ways...
I canned Malwarebytes about a year ago and cancelled the Pro subscription.

First thing I did. Updated but still blocking Google. Have disabled Web Protection as a workaround.

It's become too bloated. They are also on a downward slope. Last month they got rid of 15% of their staff.
Please elaborate on too bloated?
Not sure if fewer staff implies a downward slope. Perhaps they became redundant but I think that’s a different discussion.
