Mandatory Admin and License registration charges

Maybe because more and more dealers started advertising cr@zydude's steaks for R49.99 and leaving off the prep and reg extras, to get customers in the door. That's 80% of the work. In most industries under stress, people unbundle costs to advertise as low as possible. Over time this forces down the "sticker price" eroding margins further. Once you hook a prospect it's easier to add back the additional costs as additional charges, plus a miniscule bit more margin. ;)

If you go back to previous threads on this topic, I have already given you the costs in selling a car, as well as the profit margins, so I'm not going to drag that all up again.

What people like you tend to ignore/forget, is that this is a business, and businesses rely on profits, in order to survive - if all cars are sold at a loss, which you are actually suggesting, then the businesses would all close, and we'd be walking around.

Old and very tired argument.

For your edification, I will say this one more time, there is nothing wrong with a charge, provided it can be tied in to actual costs, as we did in my case. Anything above that moves from making an acceptable profit, through to daylight robbery, and then one is within their rights to question it.

Yeah and people go to the steak house to buy a raw piece of steak to take home and braai over the weekend. That's a pretty dumb argument.

Its not the profit that I have a problem with. It's advertising something for R199 995. And then when I get the they throw in all these other extra costs and fees. Just advertise the total price in the beginning and there won't be any problem.
