Tando Mabunu-Mandela has successfully interdicted her husband Mandla Mandela from marrying Swazi princess Nodiyeala Makhathini this weekend.

Makhathini and Mandela are further interdicted and restrained from conducting and participating in their wedding on December 24

"While it is correct that, in African tribal law, a husband may take more than one tribal wife, this is of no assistance to (Mandela) because he has married me in terms of civil rights," the The Times quotes Mabunu-Mandela as saying.

Mabunu-Mandela had her husband's 2010 marriage to a woman from Reunion Island declared illegal in May this year on the same grounds.

The Daily Dispatch has reported that the marriage would go ahead despite the interdict.
What is worrying is the non adherence to Western laws are becoming more prevalent.

Mandla Mandela declares war on villagers fighting his 'land grabs'

Fear and loathing have gripped Nelson Mandela's home village of Mvezo, where his grandson, Chief Mandla Mandela, stands accused of stealing villagers' land - and trying to move grave sites - to build a multimillion-rand hotel and stadium.

And, in a dramatic development on Friday, Sunday Times journalist Bongani Mthethwa and photographer Thembinkosi Dwayisa were held hostage for more than eight hours by Mandla at his homestead, Mvezo Great Place.

Johannesburg - ANC MP Mandla Mandela has been asked to clearly state in the National Assembly that the age of consent for sexual intercourse is 16, three gender rights organisations said on Thursday.

This came after Mandela made comments in July last year regarding the practice of Ukuthwala, the Tshwaranang Legal Advocacy Centre, the Commission for Gender Equality and the Rural Women's Movement said in a statement.

Ukuthwala is a practice where women, some as a young as 14-years-old, are abducted and forcefully married to older men.

Mandela is a grandson of former president Nelson Mandela.

According to the organisations, Mandela said the process of Ukuthwala had nothing to do with age and depended on whether the girl underwent the intonjane initiation, as arranged by her family.

"That is how culture works," he was quoted as saying at a rural development and land reform Parliamentary portfolio committee meeting.

"When you are going to discuss culture do not even try to bring in white notions as such an approach will turn things upside down," he said.

"Firstly, culture has no age. Age is something we learnt today because of our westernisation.
