Mango called out over WiFi services

Mango, the low-cost South African Airways subsidiary, has been forced to withdraw all advertising of its in-flight WiFi services after a passenger complained that he was unable to access the service.

I was wondering when someone would start complaining about this. Heard of a few instances where the connectivity was not always available.

I do tend to side with Mango though (in a way), although they advertise that connectivity is available, if that is the only reason for choosing the airline then it does seem a bit silly. What ever happened to just kicking back and enjoying the flight?

I hate flying. If I'm going to fly, it'll be with the airline that can offer me the best distraction :D

Anybody out there know how Mango's setup works i.e. the internet connectivity from the plane to ground. Is the plane linked to normal 3G which is then offered as wi-fi or do them make use of other technology?

I bought a PS Vita so that I don't have to depend on the airline for a distraction :D

G-Connect uses satellite technology. Up to 4Mbps down and 256kbps up

Another gimmick to attract passengers. What happened to books and magazines? The in-flight movies are usually awful and the TV series old stuff

I should call out alwayson then. Of late I get no connectivity when in range of their wifi.
