Hi,

We have just upgraded our cable Ethernet switch (internet connection sharing) to a 4-port Ethernet/Wireless Router. The Wireless router works perfectly with the laptops and they all connect to the Internet. However, we cannot get our PC that still uses an Ethernet cable, to also connect to the Internet through 1 of the 4 Ethernet ports. If plugged in the PC confirms the Ethernet network connection (i.e. "connected") but cannot see the Internet. The connection settings are for LAN connection with auto-address acquisition.

2nd problem: this PC has a printer that we want to share between the wireless-connected laptops. Why can't the laptops see the printer even though it is shared, etc on the PC? All run WinXP

Do an "ipconfig /all" is a dos window on the PC and the laptop.

Do they have the same IP addresses, except for the last number?
Do they have the same subnet mask?
Do they have the same default gateway?
Is the default gateway the same as the IP address, except for the last number?

With that info in hand, we might have a better chance at guessing what is going on.

Thanks gkm, doing this actually sovled the problem as it was clear that the PC's DHCP was not working correctly. Reloaded everything and it then worked immediately!

This is a bit of a different problem but I have 3 PC's that connect via ethernet cable to a Marconi 4Port Router. In 'My Network Places' I can see the other 2 PC's but they cannot see me when I look in 'My Network Places' on the other PC's.
What could be causing this?Any advice will be appreciated, thanks!
