My 1.66GHz T5500 is draws 34W, the T7300 draws 35W.

Hell, that's a 3% difference for a processor that is probably twice as fast ! (much higher clock speed, double L2 cache, etc).

You need to get some perspective here !

The T7300 could idle at half power while doing the same processing as the T5500 at full power.

Thanks for your concern, Jola. I am fully aware of the differences, and don't have to be convinced to spend an additional R800 on a 4 year old laptop, to gain... what?

I am planning a new laptop later in the year, till then this one will do.
