Maroga quits ESKOM.

Maroga is an electrical engineer. He was elevated through the ranks far too quickly and put in a postition for which he was either not ready or for which he was not suited (i.e. lack of managerial skills). He also presided over an institution where the govt was running roughshod over sensible business decisions (AA). How do run a business where you have to bounce your critical skills as a rsult of govt dictates?

In other words don't be so harsh on the guy. He was much a victim of the system as everybody else (and several have admitted you'd step into his shoes if only for the money).

Time to emigrate.Without MOROGA we are nothing. He was the great father of the nation,an now he is gone...........))))))......Bring on the next MA***A............

Check

How much is he getting? Hefty check on the way....!

 aparently its not definate yet...

Like most big issues in our beloved country, their handling of this matter has been abominable! :(

Does any one actually know what has happened here or why he is leaving/asked to leave? This thing is worse than Isidingo!

Malema was on radio just now saying Maroga has not resigned and will continue his job at Eskom.

Once again our future president, my favourite politician, has blamed this on the fact that Jacob is black (per what I heard him say on radio) and that is why he has been canned.

It's got nothing to do with possible incompetence or failure to perform or anything like that.

That the greater majority of the board - or so I am told - is black makes no difference  Eish! Julius! You make politics a pleasure to follow! :D

The Black Management Forum said state-owned enterprises were being turned into “slaughterhouses for black professionals like Maroga”. “We reiterate ... that pushing experienced Africans to leave these positions is aimed at destroying institutional memory and experiences of Africans in the economy so that they remain at the bottom of the economic pyramid,”

To Clarify .. This oke did a poor job of managing a government resource, the reasons are irrelevant .. He was allowed to receive millions in bonuses for performance that he did not produce ... and all he gets is to resign ?

Im sorry .. but he squandered millions in Taxpayers money , MY MONEY ... (not millions of mine .. but I gave some ;) )

How is it .. that someone is not on trial for FRAUD I ask you ? A resignation seems like a slap in the face to the millions of Eskom clients who have no second choice. And stinks of a quickie cover up.

Hah...

Wish I knew how politics work, cause it all seems insanely illogical to me.
I swear a woman invented it, some woman in Rome decided, men are too manly and smug, I'm gonna invent this scheme where they think they control everything, but only Woman will truly know what is going on...

yeah you got it right, I took this thread and derailed it from Racism to Sexism....woot me!

We are in deep sheet.

The manner in which this was handled reeks of political bull. These people are supposed to be professionals at the top of the game, not a bunch of blundering morons tripping each other up at the first available opportunity.

The entire Public Health System, the entire Public Roads and Transportation System, the entire Broadcasting system, the municipalities, and now the country's Power supply.

At the last mini-budget, a rosy picture was painted, even though more money was being given to people who failed the auditing process miserably.

Mr. President? WTF is going on?

All this makes me wonder why it's suddenly okay for an individual to remove up to 8 million rand from the country per year.
Is it that time? Have the people who have been raping the country realised that they need to secure their money elsewhere?

Have you guys heard what the ANCYL is saying?

"Maroga was payed all that money to make him look greedy so everyone will hate him"

What a load of CARP!

Yes, Maroga has resigned. It was announced at Eskom yesterday, the papers are being signed today. His resignation is due to a few reasons, one of them being the crap hitting him from standing behind the fan.

if Maroga became CEO in 2007 and load shedding started in 2007 why is he being blamed for that?

Ah - The MG puts it out there - http://www.mg.co.za/article/2009-11-06-eskom-upheaval-the-case-against-maroga

Best comment on that story:

This is clearly a black bashing exercise. Jimmy Manye, Maroga and Julius have enlightened us that there is no such thing as an incompetent black manager. Hard evidence of incompetence should immediately be rejected especially if a white person has been involved in the criticism - at any stage. All criticism against any black person are the result of a white conspiracy. Period. So there, now you know. Oh, and beware: a black criticising a black is a coconut. Priority advice for Eskom: “transformation” first, power supply issues are secondary. And refrain from looking up the word "transformation” in any dictionary. We the comrades have assigned a new meaning to this word.

In Maroga’s chief executive strategy document, dated October 22 2009, which the M&G has seen, Maroga commented on the Olsen report, saying there was a culture of “white supervision” at Eskom: “White supervision is a phenomenon that derives from our past of racial segregation and racial hierarchy. This phenomenon is based on the view that, without white supervision, blacks by themselves are not able to lead and achieve anything of significance.”

Maroga blamed the culture of “white supervision” for the leaking of sensitive Eskom documents to the media. One of these leaked documents was the Olsen report.

“The manner in which the Olsen report was given status and attention is one example of white supervision mentality,” said Maroga. “The Olsen report was written by a white person and leaked by a white person to a political party and the media. It did not matter that this report was in response to already identified weaknesses that were already being addressed.”

African mentality at it's worst: 'I have no idea what I am doing but no whitey is going to tell me what to do'.

Personally I believe this guy deserves a prison sentence for what he did to SA's economy.

Are these okes so bad that they cant even fire someone without fsking up ...... I mean, how confusing can it be??
