My Fiance and I are planning our marriage for next year. We are getting married in France and the contracts are slightly different than in English countries. Eventually we are going for a regime of separate community of property .

So the French lawyers are charging 250 euros per hour (and they always inform me that it excludes the 50 euros cash). I nearly had a heart attack when I realized that get getting the papers done will be over 1000 euros.

I was wondering what they charge in S.A. and if anyone has experience with Marriage contracts and international law? How is it recognized in S.A.? (I travel around the world for my job and I might end up dying or divorcing in another country).

You should probably approach a law firm with international offices / partners that can advise you on costs and process

I am not a notary so please don't rely on my advice. AFAIK - For a South African ANC to be valid (worldwide), it needs to govern a South African marriage. If you are not marrying pursuant to South African law, then you would need to comply with whatever law in France would retain your "separate estates". Your reference to a "separate community of property" is a oxymoron - if the estates are separate, you can never have a "community of property".
