I thought so too initially, was not happy with him as the lead character, but for some reason, the role actually suits him perfectly. He actually performs a great role. Just everything this far seems to work on The Punisher series and I agree that it probably is one of the better Marvel series out there.

I enjoyed the role that the Punisher played in DareDevil much more that in this series, it was much to slow for my liking and even though its extremely violent it's not as dark as in the DareDevil chapter.
Don't get me wrong, its still a very good series, in the "Netflix" marvel universe the only series which is better is DareDevil, The Punisher is in a different league from Iron Fist, the defenders, Luke Cage and that nonsense.

Edit.
Between Thomas Jane, Dolph Lundgren, Ray Stevenson and Jon Bernthal, I do feel Bernthal is the best Frank Castle.

He was by far the only reason I could watch Daredevil season 2. He is great in this role.

Watching dogs poo is better than Iron Fist!

I finished episode 4 yesterday - liking it so far, but I wish he was just sommer The Punisher. Like, I want him to get the vest back. I suppose that is still coming.
 
And done!!

Very good series, thoroughly enjoyed it and I consider myself over the Marvel genre.

Had just the right amount of hardcore brutality mixed with cheesy sentimentality and a pair of pretty decent villains in Lewis and Russo.
 
Good show, really good! Glad to see that I'm not the only one who's on the fence regarding Bernthal as the man to play the Punisher (think they could've done better), but that being said, I still enjoyed it.
 
5 episodes down, still don't like this guy. Still not 100% onboard with him being the Punisher. He just brings a certain mannerism and attitude (Afrikaans: Houding) to a character, that I hate.
 
7/10 for me. Loved the first episode and it got good again from about episode 10 on. Episode 11 was everything I'd hoped for and gets 11/10. Since I'm not American the whole PTSD/disillusioned vet/freedom fighter vs terrorist topic didn't do much for me. I actually laughed out loud when
Frank picked the worst car out of the garage "because it's American!"

I assume it makes sense to change the theme from vigilante wiping out organised crime to something more current in American society, and presumably Frank is still pretty new to the Punisher thing
(having only 37 murders the authority knows about)
, so hopefully now that they've got this out of their system they can move on with the next series to something that has more universal appeal.
 
Just a random question for you lot.

How do you pronounce or enunciate "Castle"?

Like an American (for the effect) OR like a Saffa?

Personally I'm the former as it sounds cooler & more appropriate.
 
Prefer Carsil.

Cassil sounds absurd.


I'm about half way through and enjoying it. Could've been shorter tho. I like Bernthal in this role.
