Mass mailing question

I got a friend who wants to send out over a thousand emails to people who have voluntarily subscribed (not spamming) to be sent email correspondence about his business. He has the addresses in a .csv file and has trying to an addon for Thunderbird called Mail Merger and can only get it to send to the first address on a csv.

Just wondering if anyone has a solution or better method of doing this and if anything might be wrong in the csv to cause this problem?

I'm not sure about that particular add-in, but has your friend considered using a professional mailing list company? I've used listbox.com. You can upload csv's for mailing (amongst other features).
