Massive outcry about ADSL capping
The ISP Afrihost, that recently grabbed wide attention by offering low-cost ADSL connection, caused a massive outcry when they not only capped their “uncapped” accounts but also throttled regular users while some people are not even able to connect.

While some people come out for Afrihost for being open minded and started a questions and answers threat at Mybroadband a large portion complains that advertising and promoting uncapped accounts but then turn around and cap it is false and misleading.
“I already paid Afrihost for a normal 10 GB ADSL account but cannot connect to the internet at all for a long period of time” said Mr Frank Coetzee. “Surely I didn’t paid them with some false banknotes it’s therefore appealing that they cannot provide the service for which they was already paid for”
“What however gets me from the SA Internet situation is the total lack of backbone from consumers that gets screwed all over but don’t want to fight back. A uncapped account is simple not a uncapped account when it’s capped and a 4mbs connection is simple not a 4mbs connection if it’s throttled at crazy slow speeds”
“What we really need in South Africa is consumers with backbone and willing to stand up against abuse where marketing smart talk and reality differ from each other like day and night.” conclude Mr Coetzee.
