Massive Ping spikes to Router

I ran a test yesterday with Ubuntu. Same issue. It does seem to be the PCI card :/. Anybody here familiar with power-line Ethernet adapters? How reliable/stable is the connection? Might as well go wired rather than buying a new Wireless card and hoping it doesn't have the same performance issues.
