Massmart to shut down Dion Wired

Massmart Holdings Ltd. started consulting with unions about store closures and jobs cuts, as the South African unit of Walmart Inc. battles to recover from an earnings slump.
 
Sad actually, they had good internal marketing, which made them a rememberable brand, but I don't believe they quite achieved their outward marketing. They should have placed more emphasis in online marketing and selling, and maybe changed their large stores to more robust catalogue boutiques with self-service and more informative employees. They still have the kind of customer who wants to feel and look at the goods before purchase.

If I had the capital I would have started a physical technology and electronic marketplace much like those Asian malls. Like an everyday boutique for stage innovation. Cataloguing, self-purchase orders through an online site or portal.
 
And this will keep happening until MassMart fixes its online shopping experience.
I don't know how Walmart has allowed the horrendous Makro Online service to carry on for so long
 
Not surprised at all, they were always horrendously overpriced even compared to their own bloody sister businesses inside Massmart which is just laughable.

I have never bought anything there because it never made sense and I don't know of anyone else who does shop there outside of extreme specials/mistakes.
