Hi Guys

Our company issues MasterCard branded cards to certain clients. Now, these clients are free to transact wherever but we have seen a trend where by they transact at PNP & Shoprite mostly.

For phase 1, I would like to group these transactions by Province (Gauteng/KZN). For phase 2 I would like to plot these transactions on a map (google maps for instance) so I would need the GPS co-ordinates of these stores.

For Phase 1 Shoprite has the province embedded in the store name (Data Element 43 on the ISO message from MasterCard), however for Pick 'n Pay, they don't. They just send 'Pick 'n Pay Family Douglasdale ZAF' for instance.

So, my question is how can I get the provinces for each PNP store? Or maybe a list of PNP stores?

Thanks for the help!

Can I just ask one question.... why?
Why do you want to plot your customers GPS co-ordinates everytime they make a transaction?

What company is this?

Why would you need that much detail OP?
Upside I could think of is for speedier resolutions for fraudulent transactions perhaps.

But even then, the privacy issues as asked about earlier... What gives?

First you should consider if there are any PCI DSS implication for what you doing. You could very well lose your mastercard accreditation if they found out.

Secondly if you were to carry on as an exercise of thought :)
You'd need access to the actual configuration information of your acquiring system to know for sure.
So whoever (assuming not you?) is doing the acquiring for PnP they might be aggregating the payments for pnp per region.

Field 43 has a standard layout that includes:
-> store name or location information (excluding city, state and country)
-> city
-> state
-> country

So obviously they can just space fill what's not necessary to be passed on. I wouldn't rely on this field though unless it's explicitly specced to have the exact location information in the granularity you require.

Lol, No I don't work for PRISM and don't have any intention of tracking the users spending.

I'm just trying to get more insight on how the system/cards are been used so we can improve service delivery to our clients.

For example:

Capitec and FNB both allow clients to withdraw money from PNP/Shoprite. Now just say, PNP & Shoprite doesn't have a strong presence in a certain part of Gauteng. The bank can partner up with certain small business in that region to provide a better service of its clients in that region.

Maybe using GPS co-ordinates is going to far but province level is what I'm aiming for now.

As for PCI - From what I know they are only concerned with protection of users information from security breaches.
