So this lad gets knocked over by someone running a red light and the MEC didn't even get out the car to see how badly injured he was ?

They're pigs, the smellier the better. ANC don't care if there is a public outcry. It doesn't make them money.
Yeah I also thought the article is missing the word "pupil"
is it zuma who wants to reduce the speed limit to 100km/h? does it apply to these people who think they have the right to speed where ever and when ever they like? or is it zuma wants the speed limit reduced because of these sort of uncalled for incidents.

Just heard this MEC chop on 702... he maintains that the accident has nothing to do with the blue light brigade... accidents happen on the roads everyday and the media must be sympathetic towards the families of the injured including the driver of his vehicle. When asked about the rules allowing an MEC to use the blue-light, the MEC referred to these as "an open-secret", he would not begin to explain the circumstances allowing the use of blue-lights for non-emergency vehicles... or disclose his emergency on the day of the accident... and maintains that all drivers who have passed their driver's test will know that they have to make way for blue-light brigades regardless of who is using them... it is the law (he says).
This MEC prick just brushed off any accountability. Would not discuss the red-light jumping with no sirens.
Closed off with an invitation to lecture John Robbie on the use of blue-lights and reminded him that this was his 1st accident with a blue-light... and that people should be sensitive to, and pray for, the driver who is also recovering.
Pfffffft.
I call for vigilantes to build "death-proof" cars (ala Quinten Tarentino film) and "patrol" for active blue-light brigades and aim to take them out.

Heard a interview also on 702 driving to work...but it was with a woman. The BESTEST PART was ......she was driving in yet another blue light brigade of death as she was doing the interview on the fcking phone!!!!!!!! You could hear the sirens in the background! THE BESTEST BESTEST past is....SHE WAS RETURNING FROM JUST VISITING THE FAMILY OF THE BOY THAT WAS RUN OVER BY A BRIGADE!!!!!!

The guy doing the interview said that he can hear she is driving in a brigade...he can hear the sirens. She blabbed on about how they have to so that they can aint late for meetings. He asked her...are you late for a meeting now? She said...no, I am not late for a meeting. WTF!!!!???
These brigades should be banned and all these MEC's and what have you should be sent on a "Planning your schedule 101" frekking course!!!!

She also mentioned that she is in a combi-taxi, with a delegation of ministers on the way from the airport to a meeting at Tuinhuis with the president... no blue-light... traveling in the public transport lane thus bypassing the rush-hour traffic. She is allowed to use the dedicated public-transport lane as she is in a combi-taxi with multiple occupants.
She has said that there is no need for a blue-light, as she made sure she is on time and she will be on time for the meeting as well despite rush-hour traffic because of the public transport lane.

I'm actually very much leaning more towards the following
Blue Light Brigades should be banned, VIP Protection should be banned, political appointees should be banned from using convoys, they should have a cap of R200000 on the cost of the vehicle, and it can only be replaced every 5 years, they should have to drive themselves.
If they are caught breaking the rules of the road, they should get the fine x 10 since they are supposed to set the example.

They can plan ahead, and drive within the speed limit without the need of all the additional extras.
But it just is an ego trip for them....
We really are witnessing a group of people who have managed to get themselves into power and now think they are gods walking the earth. They think they are above the law, they take what they want from the tax payer.
