Yeah. But it's ridiculous for them to do that. University is meant to be application of knowledge rather than parrot fashion learning.

Nah there's no parriot learning, it adds another level of problem solving. They'll tell you the value of the square root of 6, and then you'd have to rewrite the equation in such a way that you actually have the square root of 6 somewhere. ;)

Having to derive equations from scratch when you have such limited time was a shlep. It doesn't provide any benefit and doesn't actually test what you have actually learnt. The only beneficiaries were those with good memories of **** long equations
 
I had a Sharp programmable calculator. The teachers only knew Casio, so I managed to keep my equations in there ;)
