Question 1 from the maths lit past paper in the Sunday times today

That's not financial maths. That's reading.

My apologies... I just read that question in detail. That's not even a grade 10 level, my brother in Grade 7 can probably do these questions... :(
Im a maths teacher.

It's good that some of the concepts in maths lit are taught, like cost of credit, how tax works etc, but those Imho belong in life orientation, not something with the word maths in it.

Maybe i am wrong, but maybe the education system should go back to the way it was in the late 80's. Teachers taught. I am so tired of this BS of being told that i must it with our kids to do their home work. If i must teach my child do do what is supposed to be taught during school hours and have to do it in the evening, then what is the point of paying all the expensive school fees. Who is at school, them or us. when we were at school our home work got checked by the teacher, now if the parents sign the homework diary they see that as the homework was done and checked. I don't mind assisting if they are stuck. But seriously. Leave your administrative paperwork until after the kids have left school at 2 and work till 5 like everyone else or maybe do it over your school holidays.

This is just a classic case of our government... Can't solve the problem by producing or "tempting" better teachers with packages for education i.e. pension etc but rather just drop the subject.

The people that are there will be bestest at life without guidessness from those whos thinking thoughts were bestest!

.... -.-"
