Matrix 4 gets a release date

This is the reason why Valve is scared to create HL3. And for as long as they're in that state of mind they really shouldn't.
Actually no. They stopped doing actual game development a while ago or can you list their recent titles they have published successfully. Try again.

Half life Alyx
I'll find you the nice vid on this... if I can.

@Moosedrool
Odd, I thought it was nerdslayer but I see it wasn't him. In a nutshell it was that they don't do games because they've moved on from actual game development, however, I see valve claiming they are back in game development and as you remined me HLA did come out. In contect; that is still why HL3 isn't out and its not about the fans but rather their position then. Which was neatly discussed in a nerdslayer death of a game type documentary on valve and hl. Sadly seems that vid is "gone". Any case, perhaps now they can bring it out again.

Seems that Borealis is still taking their time

I get it, the movie wasn't as aww inspiring as the first matrix but it is their story. Take it or leave it. Move on with your life if you don't like the story because it didn't hold up to your personal fantasy built up over the last 20 years.
This I have no problem with, although usually a theme is stuck to enough even many years later as that's what older fans expect.
What's getting me here is they went off the tracks with far too many factors.

A bit of both I think. Its inevitable to go in expecting the bullet time wow factor like the first time drug hit that you're never going to experience again.

No one has praised M4 as a masterpiece and acknowledged its flaws, bit its definitely not T:Dark Fate bad and actually adds some new layers.

There's no denying everyone thought this franchise was 100% completely dead but they've actually breathed some life into it, which in itself is quite an achievement.
Inevitable you say

Interesting perspective. Personally I think they've actually given it a bullet to the head.

One review pointed out that Neo never handled a gun in the entire movie. They could of leveraged Reeves' talents there. Ultimately, it was too much wokeism for me.

Heck, when the unreal engine matrix video has better action than the movie...

Times change and perspectives differ I guess.

That's where you killed it for yourself. You went looking for political kark and found it.

Most people watched the original movies without realising it was an allegory for trans rights. They just watched it as a sci-fi movie. If you did that here you would have been fine - it's definitely better than M3.

Trinity was a useless character in the original movies who didn't bring anything special to the table. She was just there to pomp Neo. It's cool that her profile was raised. If you're looking for wokeism in that then you're going to be upset. But if you've been following the series as a sci-fi story, you'd realise that she was in desperate need of character development...

Care to fully explain this? Personally like with M4 's love narrative/spin I call bs on it.

It’s not bs, the Wachowskis confirmed it. But I think it’s not like a fully developed theme. Probably more like they put their internal struggles in and it’s just one of many valid interpretations. But red pill/blue pill can mean anything to anyone.

Personally the ‘wokeism’ is the least bothersome thing about M4. They should either hand the franchise over to better directors or retire it for good.

Nice. Whatever makes feels but fitting to the central idea of distraction and bs :coffee:

This is honestly the most moot point ever about Matrix 1. Because even if you intentionally look for that allegory you hardly even find it. Afaik they wanted to make it a more explicit allegory but reeled it in for Hollywood consumption which in the end created a movie that could be an allegory for pretty much anything, and that's part of it's charm: It's open to a bunch of interpretation without being particularly preachy about what the correct interpretation is.

(Not that I though 4 was preachy.)

Next thing we'll be told that Mouse was making goo-goo eyes at Neo in M1 'cos he smiled at him too much when introduced.
Bah!

Agree with that. It's not much different here since is essentially a new version of the matrix.

If you go looking for things then you will find it, and that basically means you've already consigned yourself to a predetermined opinion.

They are a bit more obvious regarding women's rights, but I see it as much needed character development.

The issue is it feels like too much of "more of the same", but still it's better than the third movie IMO...
