Matrix 4 gets a release date

Agree with that. It's not much different here since is essentially a new version of the matrix.

If you go looking for things then you will find it, and that basically means you've already consigned yourself to a predetermined opinion.

They are a bit more obvious regarding women's rights, but I see it as much needed character development.

The issue is it feels like too much of "more of the same", but still it's better than the third movie IMO...
That's a better summary, can go with most of that.

Lol these movies seriously affects some of you guys.

The only bit of political undertone is truly the concept of freedom vs control. "The problem is choice" as Keanu puts it hence the anomaly. The funny thing about the political side of it is no matter which side of the spectrum you're coming from, that level of free will is sought after by everyone. Except maybe North Korea but they're too concerned with somehow obtaining food anyways.

Seriously anyone bringing modern political craze into these films are doing way too much mental gymnastics around a pretty original story.

That's where you killed it for yourself. You went looking for political kark and found it.

Most people watched the original movies without realising it was an allegory for trans rights. They just watched it as a sci-fi movie. If you did that here you would have been fine - it's definitely better than M3.

Trinity was a useless character in the original movies who didn't bring anything special to the table. She was just there to pomp Neo. It's cool that her profile was raised. If you're looking for wokeism in that then you're going to be upset. But if you've been following the series as a sci-fi story, you'd realise that she was in desperate need of character development...

Correct.

It was a cool movie with cool special effects

One review pointed out that Neo never handled a gun in the entire movie.

Times change and perspectives differ I guess.

And that is a problem and the conclusion is woke?

Thing is - people are too restricted by the safe space of familiarity. Stray from the norm and it becomes jarring.
No bullet time action like M1
Kung fu not up to scratch like M1
No, guns, lots of guns like M1
etc, etc.

And when M1 is given to them again on a plate
the complaint is that they just remade M1 ( think The Force Awakens)

So they change it again and we're back to square one making Last Jedi/Rise of Skywalker.

I agree with you on that.

Same recipe = complaints
Different recipe = complaints

While this "new" matrix will lose me as a fan, it will undoubtedly gain others. I wonder if a 5th will be made.

lol, people thought Revolutions was good
I agree with you on that.

Lana has already said “NO” to a 5th movie.

Were you ever really a Matrix fan if you skipped the other Matrix tie-in media (from the Wachoskis themselves) like the games, Anime, and comics? And if you have consumed all of that, you really think M4 is the worst they’ve put out? C’mon. They should have lost your admiration by 2005 latest.

Deja-vu: we had this same debate in 2003 when everyone said Reloaded and Revolutions sucked and also swore of the franchise

Number 10 on this list & I mostly agree. Not remotely interested in other 2c opinions "looking" for kak in the film.

Early signs regarding The Matrix 5's chances are mixed but, if we're being honest, leaning toward the negative. Heading straight to source, Lana Wachowski replied with a firm "No" when asked about The Matrix Resurrections instigating a whole new trilogy (via AP), which tells us there are no firm plans - in her mind, at least - for Matrix 5. Of course, that doesn't mean a sequel won't happen. The Wachowskis spent years turning Warner Bros. down before one of them eventually relented, so no one can definitively rule out a Matrix 5 further down the line. Also, Lana shot down rumors of a whole new trilogy - not a single follow-up to The Matrix Resurrections.

As you'd expect, Warner Bros. are talking more positively about The Matrix 5. According to Ann Sarnoff (WarnerMedia CEO), they're ready with the green stamp of approval any time Lana Wachowski wants to plug into the Matrix (via Deadline), so whether or not The Matrix 5 happens is clearly dependent on getting the director aboard. Though Sarnoff would obviously prefer Lana behind the wheel, The Matrix Resurrections has Jonathan Groff drop the line, "Warner Brothers has decided to make a sequel... they informed me they're going to do it with or without us." Maybe just a gag making full use of creative license, the line could, however, hint toward Warner pushing ahead with The Matrix 5 regardless.
