Matthew Tagg founded Web Africa in 1997 as a hosting provider in South Africa while the industry was still maturing. This supported him through his studies – BSc majoring in Computer Science - at UCT while learning the basics of business and customer relationship management.
The company was reformed in 2003 when its second fulltime employee was hired and has grown from there to 125 employees and approximately 30 000 ADSL and hosting accounts today that offer award-winning customer service to local and international internet users.
In 2007, while MD of Web Africa, Matthew co-founded Teraco and is currently a nonexec on the board. Teraco is South Africa’s first vendor neutral co-location facility that is supported by international financiers, including the Pentangle group, and led by the ex-Storm management team.
