Hey everyone

Inbetween playing Oblivion, I have been playing Max Payne 2. I think it's probably been the #1 game I've wanted to play over the years but couldn't due to me not have a pc.

I'm happy that it supports my full widescreen resolution, and surround sound channels all work great. In game, it's nearly identical to the first game, and that's a very good thing.

I'm enjoying the game, but I do find it pretty confusing at times, it's really back and forward in the story line. As I get closer to finishing it, I'm understanding more and more, but it's still weird. There's one scene at the start of chapter 3 that has some serious motion blur, and that puts the Valkyr crazy drug scenes from the first game to shame lol.

One thing that doesn't impress me though was the addition of all the swearing. To me, it somehow doesn't add to the game, but takes some of the shine away from it. I know it's very much an adult themed game, but to me it feels almost as if Rockstar thought the swearing would add extra appeal. I may be the odd one out here, but I find that swearing in a game isn't appealing nor does it give that "realism." Max Payne 1 had a few light words in, but 2 is like a different game with all of that.

Apart from that, I'm enjoying it, the new weapons, and the physics, but somehow I think Max Payne 1 will always be my favourite. The story was tighter, next to no swearing, and it had far more of the graphic novel feature.

What do you guys think? I know it's rather an old game now, but I'm sure you still have memories of it :)

The first one had a better story, but it was too goddam hard. The second one has better gameplay.

(And it looks betters, obviously, but that's expected.)

Swearing doesn't bother me. Isn't it just the annoying Italian gangster who swears constantly?

i loved mp2.

the other game that was good in my books - was fahrenheit ... did you play it. Nice story and interesting gameplay.

Loved the game, very nice game engine. Enjoyed it from start to end.

Ahhhh.... I remember MP1. Remember the dream/hallucination where you have to steer Max over the trail/maze of blood?

With babies crying in the background and that blood-curling scream if you put a foot wrong and fell off the trail...

Twisted stuff...

Yeah that was awesome ...

Loved both of them, and they both rate in my top 10 games of all times. GOD (Gathering of developers) was a great development house, they went on to become Rockstar games

new max payne coming out 2009 for console around the time the movie made starring mark whalberg :)

time to get a console

Absolutely loved it to bits. Keep meaning to loan it from a mate of mine and play it again.

Just FYI, Rockstar wasn't the developer of Max Payne 1 or 2, they were developed by Remedy Entertainment, and published by Gathering of Developers/Rockstar. I believe Rockstar owns the IP now though, so any further sequels WILL be developed by them.

I loved Max Payne 1 & 2. I also enjoyed the subtle reference/s to it in GTA:SA. Play it with a headset on was remarkably scary, especially that scene with all the crying babies. If someone had touched my on my shoulder then, I probably would have had a heart attack!

If they don't release it for PC, I will unfortunately not be playing it. Not that I am saying you shouldn't own a console, or they are better/worse than a PC, I just don't want one.

I finished the game on Sunday, and I will say that it was tough to lol. Took me a long time to figure out what I had to do to kill Vlad.

Overall, I rate this game as very good, if just too short. The game flies by, and you end up wanting more. Was the same with MP1, just when it got really good, it was done with.

Still, I have heard that MP3 is in the works, and should it come out on pc, I will look at getting it. I'm a sucker for bullet time.

The storyline was a bit hard to follow though, jumping back and forth and again and again. MP1 started off like that but the path up to the end was clearer. MP2 left me thinking about it to find out what is what.

I have to say that the hallucination scenes in MP1 were nuts, and the ones in MP2 were even more weird, especially with the added motion blur
