Mayor's 'prize' cheques bounce

OT: I have seen a move from just handing cheaques to students for stuff like study loans, to them wanting to deposit straight into the school. Me and some friends have all been there and not all the money found it's way to our studies. :o

What happened here was that the councils decision was not communicated to the parents, which is not cool.

At the meeting some of the parents confronted the board about the decision and pointed out that their children had planned to use the money on textbooks and petrol, among other things.

Was the money not meant for tuition(sp)?

I can understand the logic behind it but then they should've had that as a plan from the beginning and just handed out certificates or something at the prize giving.

Its like myadsl promises a cash prize for a competition, there is a winner, he gets a cheque, but the cheque bounces and myadsl says, "Sorry, but we changed our mind, we will send your money to telkom instead."

Yes, that's pretty much a similar analogy. I hope the people affected really take the govt to task on this one and give them hell....

Actually its a k@k analogy. Comparing myadsl to guavamint should be an instaban!

I meant that the analogy is similar. I did not imply or mean to imply that this forum was like government

"The metro council's spokesperson Console Tleane confirmed that a decision was taken "almost immediately" after the breakfast to cancel the cheques."

I think ole Console Tleane is talking a load of s h i t e - they are trying to hide what a shambles their financial [mis]management is in. No che[ck]ques and balances, utterly clueless.
