MBP 2018 Logic board failure - help?

My MacBook Pro 2018 15" bricked itself after the upgrade to macOS Big Sur. I sent it in for repairs at the iStore and core group want 21k for a logic board replacement. At this point I'm almost willing to go visit family overseas and take my chances at an actual Genius Bar.

Has anyone else had similar experiences or any alternative recommendations?

There were a few cases oversea similar to what you have experienced, Apple should be responsible for. I suggest you reach out to Apple directly, Core SA will do nothing for you... good luck mate!

One commenter on Reddit said that they were told by Apple support to book their MacBook Pro in for a repair. Another on an Apple Support thread said that the issue has been escalated to Apple's engineering team, so Apple should now be aware of the problem.
