Would appreciate some advise from the elves plse....I loaded Vodacom software for a 3G modem (which I purchased today), and after a restart the computer hangs up and does not complete the start up - it just seems to hang there.

This is the first time I have had a serious issue with my MBP, and don't know how to interrupt the boot sequence - or try and use time machine to back up?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hold shift down when you boot up. (safe boot)

Well restoring from a time machine backup should be simple enough if you want to go that route.

But first - where is it hanging and how long are you leaving it for?

After pushing the start button I get the apple screen, with the rotating beachball - and this is where it stays.....

Yesterday morning, but I am not sure how to perform a time machine back up, if I can't get to the operating screen?

Although you got sorted it sounds like a Permissions problem you had,

Just out of curiosity did you try zap your PRAM?

With your re-install, did you do an Archive re-install or did you install from a Time Machine backup?
