If the module is locking up, we are unable to catch the fault on the network. Hopefully it can be logged on the module itself. No luck on the driver side as yet.

I've noticed that I was using the enhanced host controller interface. using the uhci is MUCH more stable. Actually I'm having a hard time killing it using uhci.

I'll post if I have any more luck.

Hi Guys,

Sorry to just cut in here but I joined the forums specifically to try and solve the problem you guys are describing.

I've got a number of sites running Samba 75's (on NetBSD 3.0) and I also get a similar lock up of the device after some time. The device is connected 24/7 and sometimes after a few days it'll appear to freeze up. I've got a script that runs to reconnect if the connection goes down, and after one of these 'freeze ups' I get timeout errors trying to talk to the modem. Only re-plugging (essentially a power cycle) resolves the problem.

I thought at first that it may be a power problem because we weren't running the dual-head USB cable to provide the device with extra power, but alas even with the dual-head cable they still lock up.

I'll get our RF Lab to look into this further and advise ASAP

Just an update on this, this is the response I got from Falcom Germany regarding the problems with the Samba75:

the concept of the SAMBA75 is not to use it as a server or Gateway.
It provides consumer but not industrial solutions.
It could happen that it locks up after several days of operation if it
is
running 7/24.
For industrial or server/Gateway applications we suggest to use TANGO55.
