A police dossier shows that McBride's brakes appear to have been tampered with twice in the run up to his crash in 2006, according to Talk Radio 702's Eyewitness News.

McBride is on trial on drunk driving and defeating the ends of justice charges in connection with an accident near Centurion in December 2006.

According to Eyewitness news, another vehicle - a yellow Mazda - was seen travelling at high speed, allegedly forcing McBride’s car to swerve and overturn as a result.

It is understood the alleged attempt on McBride's life was the result of his investigations into dodgy land deals in Meyersdal.

I'm a little undecided about this one. The report indicating foul play was independent of him and he hasn't tried to use this as a legal defence yet. But this does play all too nicely into his hands from now on I reckon.

The fact that the man has no recollection of the accident and cannot explain why if he hadn't been drinking he had no recollection, just makes me question his integrity. He attributes the assassination attempt to his corruption investigations he was conducting at the time. Hmmm.

Sure, but let's look at the current case against him based on its own merits. You believe there is any truth to the assassination accusations? If not, then he's orchestrated one helluva cover up which needs one helluva'n investigation on its own...
 
The part that bugs me is that him and all his fellow metro cop friends did their level best to hamper any potential witnesses who could have helped strength the case in the first place. And so much antagonism was created, especially when the shenangians started coming out, that any sympathy that may have existed for MacBride has been flushed. If however, somebody was out to get him then it should be investigated properly. As much as I dislike the guy he does deserve his day in court, and he has done pretty well to avoid it.

I really could not care about the current case (except that my tax money is being used to defend the moron), I care about the fact that he murdered people in cold blood by blowing them up with explosives.
 
the slimey gun runner and murderer will cause the courts to have a trial within a trial and drag the whole process out.
 
Wonder if we will be paying R200 000 pm extra now for his bodygaurds?
