Pretoria - Former Ekurhuleni metro police chief Robert McBride has been sentenced to two years in prison for drunken driving, according to Eyewitness News.

He was found guilty in April for drunken driving and defeating the ends of justice.

He was found to have been drunk when he crashed his state car on the R511 near Hartbeespoort Dam.

The State wants him to be sentenced to direct imprisonment on a count of defeating the ends of justice and a suspended sentence on a charge of drunken driving.

His lawyer wants him to be sentenced to correctional supervision.

Some untouchables appear not to be so any longer ?

Tomorrow he will "develop" some kind of "health problem", will be released and will proceed to drink and play golf when he pleases.

// checks date

 :wtf:

His lawyer wants him to be sentenced to correctional supervision.

Damm. Did he appeal his sentence? So we are stuck with him for another year? meh

More from EWN
Former Ekhuruleni metro police chief Robert McBride has been sentenced to two years in prison [effective immediately] for drunken driving.

McBride also received a five-year suspended sentence for defeating the ends of justice and Pretoria Magistrate Peet Johnson also suspended his licence for 18 months.

This means that McBride would serve two years in prison immediately and should he defeat the ends of justice the suspended sentence would come into effect.

The sentencing brought an end to a trial that began in 2006 after McBride crashed a state-owned vehicle on the R511 following a Christmas party.

He was drunk at the time but claimed that his colleague Stanley Sagathevan, was driving the vehicle.

Magistrate Johnson slammed McBride by saying he had an over-inflated ego and a total disregard for the law.

He added that McBride was arrogant, abused his position as Metro police chief and was overall an evil man.

18 months without his license while in prison? What will he do.

If there was any justice he would have been hanged.

Exactly. The man is nothing more than a murderer. He should have been hanged years ago. He has no right to waste anymore of our oxygen.
Somebody needs to please tell him to get the hell off our planet.

I hope he actually sits in jail and not like the others.............

He deserves it cause he is a plik anyhow.....
