MDMA 1.0.0.31 Beta Testing

Hi Ginggs,

I am stuck on my ZTE MF190 again. MDMA won't detect the device at all. The CellC Cd-Rom is ejected. I have tested the latest Beta build.

This is on Windows 7 32 Bit Service Pack 1.

Is there anything I can do?

Thank you,
tera :)

Have you installed the modem's drivers yet?

Buy a Huawei modem? :D

The modem is installed and connecting properly through CellC' software as well as standard dial up connection.

I'm not buying another modem....:(

Make sure that Cellc dashboard is unloaded from memory before starting mdma. Once modem is recognised, create dialup connection called mdma. It could be copy of connection created by CellC dashboard.

I've triple checked that CellC' Dashboard is closed, created the mdma connection with zero effect.

Does MDMA add any registry keys or temporary files somewhere? If so I can remove it and start it from scratch.

I don't want to dial up with mdma, I would just like to use USSD codes through it.

It might be still icon on the task bar, isn't? Go to the options and select "unload from memory on exit"

No registry changes, except perhaps for saving data counters.

I haven't seen that option, but I'll check for it. Thanks.

Teraside says the modem is not detecting, he's not getting an error message that the port is in use. This makes me think that he may have new drivers with a driver description string which MDMA doesn't know about.

Try specifying the COM port on the command line and see if MDMA will talk to your modem.

No registry keys or temporary files. The data counters are stored MDMA\usage.bin under the 'Common Appdata' folder.
In most English versions of Windows this will be 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MDMA', in Vista it is 'C:\AppData\MDMA'.

feature request

hi.. this is my first post. hopefully i'm not in the wrong section. i've been using mdma for a while and i can say that it's a great application. with this, i was able to figure out something about what my provider does to consumers. here's what they do.

before i reach my limit, the negotiated QoS was 512kbps and after i reach my limit it's down to 64kbps (as advertised). but apparently, they pushed it down to 10kbps. the 64kbps QoS was only available when i hit the jackpot. so what i did was i reconnect it manually until i hit the 64kbps QoS. the problem is, it takes hours until i hit it and most of the time i just gave up. lets say this happen if i'm using their plan A (1GB limit). such case will not happen if i'm using their plan B (5GB limit) which is 2.5x more expensive. but this plan still has its own problem. it's almost impossible to connect after i reach my limit. i have to use ReConnect to do that. and after 30 minutes - 2 hours, i was connected (in 2 hours case, ReConnect said it was the 2000th attempt). but i have no problem with this since i can do anything in that time frame.

so, my request is, is it possible to add a feature to mdma in which i can set my minimum limit of what QoS is acceptable, and when it's not reached, it will disconnect the connection so that ReConnect may do it automatically? i know that i can just use their plan B, but it's 2.5x more expensive. i can't use it every month.

thank you for your response and hopefully i was able to state my request correctly. :)

MDMA clone?

I don't think ginggs would create something abusing certain rules.

I don't bother to download it, as when some moral principles are broken, I can expect other malicious things in the software.

I've got a E1820 and a MF668 USB modem.
When I got the MF668, I uninstalled the previous Cell C software and installed the latest Cell C interface.

If I don't run the Cell C interface and plug the MF668 modem into the laptop, MDMA does not pick up the modem.
If I run the Cell C interface and close it again, MDMA does pick up the MF668 modem
The E1820 works with MDMA irrespective if I have opened and closed the Cell C interface.

Any ideas why this happens?

What do you mean by "does not pick up the modem"? Does MDMA show that is trying to detect the device, or do you get an error message?

Take note of which COM port MDMA detects the modem on in the first instance and then try specifying this COM port on the command line in the second instance.

thanks ginggs

If I haven't started and shut down the Cell C interface and then plug in the MF668, MDMA starts up (without error), but does not recognise the modem - MDMA just stays blank

If I HAVE started and shut down the Cell C interface and then plug in the MF668, MDMA starts up (without error), RECOGNISES the modem and I can log onto the tower perfectly

edit: MDMA actually does try to identify the modem, but stays in that mode without success

This may be a case of "Fools rush in......" but here goes anyway. :)

I don't think you can send USSD codes through MDMA unless you have used MDMA to make the connection. One cannot connect two programs to the same COM port at the same time.

try this: (I might be wrong, but were you having hassles connecting MF668 to MDMA???)
Plug in modem, Open CellC dashboard and wait till dashboard recognises modem and sees tower (don't connect), close dashboard completely, open MDMA, wait a few seconds, Does MDMA now recognise the modem?
