Me again ... with some battery Comms questions

How does it do that with the negative connected to the slave seeing 24V?

Think we talking past each other.

2 connections:
You have + and - that is the power part
You also have the RS485 ie the coms part

The Inverter can see and use 24V via power connection no problem, but will have no way to see battery actual level and balance state, that's where the RS485 part come to play. Unlike say a dumb Mecer better inverters can intelligently control the balancing and charge part. <-- that is the part we discussing.

If it could control the balancing, why does it stipulate that you fully charge each battery first before connecting in series? How would it take power only from one battery if one battery was higher than the other.

This doesn't make any sense.

Funny you should mention that, as my dad and I had the same question last night. Not sure if the balancer between the batteries will take care of this by default, and why I am asking all the smart people here all the difficult questions

Cause an inrush of current is bad for any battery.

When charging it tell one battery to switch to bypass till the other reach the same charge.

I don't think the comms do anything to be frank. Install your own balancer imho.

Have you managed to "talk" to the batteries yet?

We are not paralleling here.
