I'm always sceptical about these cellular providers, but being on prepaid, and with their new special, I decided to give these guys a try. Here's my feedback below.
I decided to order the free R50 package of me&you mobile from their website on Monday the 21st Sep, around 5pm... paid with my card and all was well. Seamless process and quite a well built site.
Later that afternoon, on my profile on their website, I had my phone number as well as SIM cards assigned. Quite cool...
Tuesday, around 1:45PM the courier drops by the office with the SIM cards. Awesome!
Upload the docs for RICA quite quickly, and activate. Pop the sim in my phone, and it works almost immediately.
Make a call to the SO to test the quality, and its pretty impressive. I was last on Cell C about 18 months ago and the quality in CPT then was horrendous.
So I keep the SIM in and make a few calls over bluetooth on the trip home to test the quality along the way, and it stays consistent all the way. Pretty impressive.
I tested the mobile data on Wednesday morning, and 3G stayed connected and worked perfectly. (Data is less of a concern for me).
The intention of me getting the free package was to port away from Vodacom and quit paying high prices for calls. With these guys, I was pretty impressed.
I had endless issues with Vodacom, CellC and Telkom Mobile in the past and porting, so I was reluctant to do so, but being a long weekend, I thought I take the plunge. Moving between networks broke my call routing, and I had to request multiple times for the networks to update it. Moving to VC in April was an utter ball ache and took about a week to get done. Eventually a myBB legend helped out and managed to get it right.
Filled out the port request online and it had to have been the most seamless port I've done ever. Port went through that evening, and routing from the other networks was automatically updated and worked.
I must say, so far I'm very impressed with them, their quality and support. They are very user centric which is lacking in the other providers. The CC guys also know what they are talking about and offer solutions rather than babble.
Moving on to their unlimited talk package on 1 October and will see how that works out!
Hope this helps some of you!
