Do you guys think that there would be a market for home-cooked meals to be delivered to people, either at the office or at their houses?

Nope, not by me :D Someone I know wants to do this, but I was wondering about the market, if any.

Thanks :)

This is far too vague to be considered market research.

I would say yes, because there is a market for anything in this world. Even Madiba sand. The questions need to be more specific if someone is going to trust you to get back to them with some realistic data...

I did not intend for posting a thread on MyBB to be the actual market research :)

I am merely asking to get people's opinions, that's all.

Random Advice from me (If you wanna use it)

as long as there are a few people that use your service, great - if not - all your profits are gonna be spent on driving from house to house, day after day.

make sure you calculate the petrol properly, and leave some wiggle room as well, incase it rises in future.

make sure they cook lamb!

depends on the cost of it I suppose ....

And delivery times
And guarantees (because I don't want to go hungry)
And selection
And ease of use of the service
And customer service
Quality

etc.

All of this from a consumer's point of view. Market research cannot really be carried out until you at least have some form of a business plan. Not the whole thing, but just the start at least. Especially when it comes to food as far too many things factor into the input costs.

IMO, a market might exist for a speciality sandwich, health sandwich and snack delivery service targeted at areas like Sandton, Fourways etc. However many of these companies already provide these services to their employees through specialised catering companies so it depends on their contractual agreements. Too many things to consider to be able to use this as feedback...

I want to start making use of Alleycat (or something like that) here ..... been getting rave reviews from family and friends. Think it's the Elangeni that does it .... very reasonable and they deliver.

Are you always this hyper? Some random reply would have been fine by me, DJ :D

I used to house share with a Greek woman who made her living solely from baking absolute fantastic bread every night and then getting up at about 5am to make sarmies for Stellenbosch's office workers. She was usually sold out by 2:30 every day.

But then, she's got a real talent with food and later opened a very successful Greek restaurant.

meh, explain?

Adam - Associated with ribs. who wants to eat ribs if his name is adam?
Smith- the bad guy from the Matrix, aka Agent Smith. nobody would trust this guy.

make sense? ;)

lol, fair enough, well at least now your question is answered - - there is definately a market....

**** - i'd be interested if you can make it cheap enough...

I think there would be a market for it. But it always depends on price and quality. At work we have a caterer that gives us a menu and we choose what we want for the next week. They even deliver right in our offices. My meals work out at about R20 per meal.
