Hi everyone

So yesterday I went shopping for meat. I came back empty handed. Meat is just so damn expensive. I used to get what I thought was a good deal at Giant but now the packet is getting smaller and smaller.

Can someone recommend a place where I can get good meat at reasonable prices?

Thanks

There is a butchery in parow, I think the name is Fairview, not sure, there prices are relatively good.

Edit: name is Fairfield.

the meat isnt the best

but like they chops i bought last week at R80 a kg

they fillet is sometimes county fair packed so its good

i use the chops for braaing, they taste good cause they are fatty as well

i bought some rump for biltong, was bad

But fairfield is one of the best meats compared to other cheap places

My wife buys our meats there and haram meat at Winelands Pork. Be warned, Fairfield gets full as fsck!

I used to stay in a flat in Williams Street, just behind it. When I went to do my meat shopping I did it there because I had a "contact".

He'd weigh the meat, print out the sticker then add 4 or 5 chops to the bag while I slipped a 10 bucks into his hand :)

Do you have a name for me? :crylaugh:

Depends what is reasonable, under R200/kg for beef?

In the north, I get Skaapland - fillet (expensive ~R220), Joeys - rump / rib eye, else just get Angus beef at Checkers if I'm not making a trip to go buy.

Joey's for beef products.

Die Vleis Winkel for everything else.

Winelands Pork for that kind of thing.

If I'm not making a special trip then there is absolutely nothing wrong with Checkers.

Cat. Try cat. Not exotic cat. Feral cat. Catch one yourself. How does cat & mayo sound...? Then you can use your meat allocation to entertain your ex. Thank me later.
