I haven't had meat, diary or eggs in a year and I don't miss it

Vegetarians / Vegans / hippies want to have every person know that they are vegan / vegetarian and that makes them annoying.
If you don't want to eat meat, don't, no need to tell / lecture everyone.
lol... As opposed to an entire thread drowning in people screaming, "I eat meat!"
Gotcha.

Seriously? Over 90% of the cooking threads in this section are about meat. How many of them have a brigade of vegans/vegetarians going in there and making a scene?
But then one vegetarian post comes along and it gets invaded by meat eaters making jokes about the subject and accusing vegetarians and vegans of being annoying and preachy.
Ja - you're actually right. The meat eaters on MyBB don't take any of this vegan crap. IRL, my experiences have been what Devill is talking about. The only one I know that doesn't do it is my daughter but that's cos she knows if she mentions an animal that died for my meal, I will eat another one in revenge.

My experience IRL (and I'm willing to bet this is exactly the same for most other MyBB vegans/vegetarians) is this: every time there's a meal with people I don't know, my meal arrives and someone asks why there's no meat. Usually I try and make some kind of generic answer like, "it makes me feel good" but inevitably someone presses me further as to why. Then I usually have to sit and endure a bunch of "jokes" about being a bad hunter, eating rabbit food etc.
But somehow there's this perception that vegans are "preachy" and "annoying". I've been vegan for nearly five years and I can't recall having encountered a vegan or vegetarian in that time who tried to tell somebody, unprompted, that the meal they're eating is bad.
You also need to keep in mind that, for a vegan person it's not "just a diet" - for ethical vegans and vegetarians it's a moral obligation not to participate in cruelty, so please try and understand that even if a "preachy" vegan does bring it up, they're not trying to be *******s, they're trying to make a difference in ending what is perceived to be a holocaust. You might not agree with their beliefs, but try to understand that they're just doing what they believe is the right thing to do.
Exactly my thoughts.
I've been a vegan for about a year now and I never try and push the vegan "agenda" onto anyone else. I do it for moral reasons and I expect people to respect my reason and not make rude jokes about it. Some jokes are fine, but you get people who just really want to take the piss out of you.
Dairy I can't say I am too fond of but ice cream remains a weakness - how do you give up ice cream?
