How come the bail is so cheap? They should create a scaling bail fee and fine... Ask the buggers much more for bail and fine them hundreds of thousands. If they can afford fancy BMWs and Lamborghinis they can afford a R100,000+ fine.

The Free State MEC caught driving at 235km/h was found guilty of reckless and negligent driving in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Monday, police said.

“He was found guilty and he admitted guilt,” Captain Harry Nagel said.

Nagel said the MEC for sport, arts, culture and recreation in the Free State, Dan Kgothule, would be sentenced on Wednesday.

In Finland they peg fines to your income. In 2002 a director of Nokia got a €116,000 fine (amounting to 14 days' income) for doing 75 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

E = 1/2 m v^2 says the formula. Going from 50 km/h to 75 km/h more than doubles the kinetic energy of your car.

He is doing 344m/s - if we takes 1 second to think (FOR A MEC?????) thats 1km stopping distance.
