MEC in Speeding cavalcade pile-up

Well from my understanding of the Road Traffic laws, the only people who can travel in convoy are the police and the military. If anybody else wants to they have to get proper WRITTEN authorisation from the police, or there has to be marked police vehicles in the convoy.

Therefore, I will move out of the way of these convoys, but only once I feel it is safe for me to do so (usually about 3 or 4 minutes AFTER they have come screaming up behind me). If i could get away with it, I'd hold them up, but thats against the law in this country...
 
Hmm. Wonder if their windscreen armour will stop a 1/2 inch ball-bearing at 200 km/h.

Nah, they have cracked down on this. It used to be that officials at the Kremlin and the White House used to be able to get past the traffic using blue lights (the traffic jams are horrendous). Since then they have restricted this privilege to just a few of the most important VIPs.

Hmm. Wonder if their armour will withstand an Iranian coned shaped "IED" that seems to be popular nowadays .:cool:
 
Syndyre : IIRC, its illegal to hold up a vehicle in the fast lane, even if you're travelling at the speed limit... not sure about it tho, so I err on the side of caution.

Never knew that, whether its illegal or not they could very easily cause problems for you anyway I guess...

323. Special provisions relating to freeways
5) Where the driver of a motor vehicle which is being driven in the right-hand traffic lane or in the traffic lane furthest to the right on a freeway (hereinafter referred to as the first vehicle) becomes aware that the driver of another motor vehicle (hereinafter referred to as the second vehicle) intends to overtake the first vehicle, the driver of the first vehicle shall steer that vehicle to a lane to the left of the one in which he or she is driving, without endangering himself or herself or other traffic or property on the freeway, and shall not accelerate the speed of his or her vehicle until the second vehicle has passed.

6) For the purposes of subregulation (5) the driver of the second vehicle may make the driver of the first vehicle aware that he or she intends to overtake the first vehicle by giving the driver thereof a visible signal by means of flashing the headlights of his or her vehicle.

Yeah.... could be LOTS of fun.. :D

This is why I move out of the way of these convoys, only when I think its entirely safe for me to do so... as I said, usually 3 or 4 minutes after they've come screaming up behind me....
 
Do these drivers of these cars have special training?

The object of an armoured/bulletproof car is not so you can just sit there in a hail of gunfire but to give you a few seconds to get the hell out of the "hot zone". So surely the drivers have special training. No good if "Sipho" gets a fright and puts the car into the barrier or can't drive properly:rolleyes:

Well this is true... but also obvious. Most people spend proportionally more time in their vehicles closer to home (you have to leave and return every day). It's like saying "it's always in the last place you look"...well of course it is, because you stop looking.

"Most accidents happen in the home" - well gee, imagine that, how much time do we spend in our homes?

"Most accidents in the home happen in the kitchen" - well, let's see, room full of sharp/hot things. Where else in the home is as potentially dangerous? ;)
