I just ordered a Mecer 2000VA 1200W Line Interactive UPS because we get power outages often and the last power outage broke Windows 10 on my one machine.

I know nothing about these things though so I'm hoping someone can help.

We have 2 gaming computers in the house. One with a 2080 and one with a Radeon RX 570. Can I run both these machines off of the same UPS? And hopefully the monitors too? Just long enough to switch them off in the case of a power outage.

Should be fine. 1KVa per gaming PC is plenty I reckon.

Not while gaming, the batteries in that unit is rated to supply 540W for 10minutes, just doing Windows stuff (that is not CPU/GPU hungry) you should be fine for long enough to shut down.

I think he means it's not made for the purpose of actively gaming on it while on battery.... e.g. that it won't last for long periods?

Thus he's advocating for a bigger inverter, for cleaner power and a longer battery life?

Nah, the original post clearly states that it's for switching off the computers when there's a power failure.

Sorry I misinterpreted(read wrong) the OP's post, thought he wanted power during a blackout.

So, I got my UPS yesterday and this morning the power went out. Only had one pc connected plus the router and man, it's a life saver! Should have gotten one ages ago.

Next, upgrade to a Mecer 2400VA inverter....

Heaven. :D

UPS's is a waste of money. Those batteries will be killed within in months with our electricity supply. I got tired of keep on replacing UPS batteries and switching off my PC. Or get home and everything is off because I wasn't there to switch it off.

And most of all....

Beeeep beeeeeep Beeeep Beeeep...

What you can do when you upgrade to the big boy.... Open up the UPS, kill the beeper and use it as power for your router during loadshedding.

/that's all unrelated info I have for now.
