I'm interested in the Mecer 2400Va 24V Inverter for Router, TV, lights, PC. My concern: on occasion it needs to run the garage door motor. Since it is not a pure sine wave, will it be able to run the garage motor and maybe a hairdryer?

No and No.
Why do you want to operate a hairdryer during loadshedding ?

It will run the motor but shouldnt it have a battery back up system already? but really why the hairdryer? Some hairdryers are like 2000w. Why not look for a bigger inverter a puresine wave option?

What the budget looking around?

Sometimes LS occurs when people are preparing for work.
The garage moto is the old type with no battery back up system.
Budget is around 10K; a little bit flexible.

Then you let your hair dry el natural, but hair dryers will give most inverters a run at that price. The garage should have a manual switch?

Ok, the hair dryer issue aside. I just want a plug 'n play system (preferably pure sine wave) that will last for the 2.5 hours of load shedding for 65" LED TV, Wi-Fi, a couple of lights. I don't want to fiddle with inverter/charger settings.

Mecer not pure sine, but I use mine to run LED lights/58" TV/Xbox/PS5/Alarm/NAS/2 x Raspberri Pi's/WiFI and Fibre:
OK Xbox and PS5 not all the time but when I want to I can, and for the full 2:30 hours. Also have 2 x 250W solar panels, using a 20A MPPT to keep battery topped up if there is sun light.

What is this thing called load shedding?

Only concern is that garage door...

Thanks very much. Garage door motor is long time overdue for replacement in any case.

Here you go.
BlueNova batteries built locally, in Somerset West.
My retired dad had CPS3000 installed two years ago. Zero issues, no loadshedding for him.
No microwave, kettle, toaster, hairdryers, geyser, oven, stove, dishwasher, washing machine use either.
