Mecer 3KW Inverter Trolley - Help PLEASE

Hi guys,

I got one of these inverter trolleys today:

It was the very last unit and it was the display unit, so I think someone played with the settings. I have charged it for 2 hours now.

The issue I’m having is that it refuses to switch on when on battery power. I’ve had a few trolleys so pretty clued up with them, well turning on and off at least! I put the circuit breaker up, then press the AC on button at back, nothing, not even a single LED. If I only switch on the DC button, I am able to use the USB ports to charge my phone. If I switch on the AC button and then the DC button at the same time, I get a quick few LEDs and then nothing.
BUT, when I plug it in on charge, and switch both AC and DC on, it powers on, immediately shows an error 3 code with a red fault light, after about a minute it disappears and charges. After 5 minutes of charging I can unplug the charger cable and it stays on with battery power, to test that it’s working I ran the TV, a fan and a quick microwave and it worked perfectly. Then switched it off and used my 1kw trolley for the remainder of loadshedding. Tried switching on the 3kw trolley again, NOTHING.

Pretty sure it must be a setting that is waiting for utility to power it up instead of battery, that’s what my mind is saying.

I can post all my settings here if that would help?

If that's how your screen looks then the battery is flat, which is why it's not working on battery.

But why don't you start by checking what error 3 is in the manual?

Yes you can post the settings, that will help to troubleshoot. It's not a complicated inverter, so if there are no physical technical issues it should be easy to resolve
 
@TheChamp do you have a PDF manual for this?
I just found one at family's place and it's not even plugged in.
Want to play around and see what shape it is in.

Google for it, it's more than likely an Axpert clone and they're all pretty much the same functionality.

Isn't there a warning code ? 15 would probably be a warning code and not a fault code or something. Lost my manual. Do you have solar connected?

Try to change the battery type, haven't fiddled with inverters in a while but I recall Axperts at the time had a tough time playing nice with Lithium settings, so maybe change it to User defined and then set values manually.
 
I assume you have the right battery connected to it? Looks like the one in the OP is a 48V but some 3kW models are 24V.

My FIL used it last year and when I got there it was not hooked up anymore.
I just wanted to charge it because IMHO it should be charged every so often.

I have not opened it.
The manuals I can find resembles it's LCD, but the settings differ.
 
From my photo, the round icon with wave means it's drawing power from mains.
The icon with the little bug inside I have no idea, it is not in the manuals.

The specs are on the casing right? Especially the voltage?

From this the error code 3 means the battery is not connected, maybe someone was wise enough to disconnect the battery when they no longer used the unit.
