Mecer 3KW Lithium Inverter Trolley

Hi guys,

I got one of these inverter trolleys today:


It was the very last unit and it was the display unit, so I think someone played with the settings. I have charged it for 2 hours now.

The issue I’m having is that it refuses to switch on when on battery power. I’ve had a few trolleys so pretty clued up with them, well turning on and off at least! I put the circuit breaker up, then press the AC on button at back, nothing, not even a single LED. If I only switch on the DC button, I am able to use the USB ports to charge my phone. If I switch on the AC button and then the DC button at the same time, I get a quick few LEDs and then nothing.
BUT, when I plug it in on charge, and switch both AC and DC on, it powers on, immediately shows an error 3 code with a red fault light, after about a minute it disappears and charges. After 5 minutes of charging I can unplug the charger cable and it stays on with battery power, to test that it’s working I ran the TV, a fan and a quick microwave and it worked perfectly. Then switched it off and used my 1kw trolley for the remainder of loadshedding. Tried switching on the 3kw trolley again, NOTHING.


Pretty sure it must be a setting that is waiting for utility to power it up instead of battery, that’s what my mind is saying.


I can post all my settings here if that would help?

A quick google says error 3 is battery over voltage on axperts i assume it is axpert type based on diaplay

Long press enter for settings

Use up and down to navigate menu enter allows changing on menu item enters saves change and pops one level up again to browse menu further



to check charge voltage , my expert has charge voltage at menu item 26 Cv is shown on the left and voltage on the right

and 27 is float FLv shown on left

Yours may have it at a different menu number though if it is a chopped menu

So just browse until you see Cv/FLv and checkif they have been changed or lower to see at what voltage the problem goes away(the v is displayed top aligned with the FL)

So since it is a 51.2v the cell config would be 16

16* 3.65 = 58.4 would be the max charge voltage can go
If it is this already i would lower it to 56.8v ie 3.55v per cell
And make the float voltage 53.6v

No idea of one cell is peaking if it would give the same error code

ie if one cell is slightly fuller and thus hit voltage protect mode before the pack full voltage is hit

But the screen as is shows the battery is low, if the cutoff is below the 42.7, the inverter should not work on battery. I see on the specs the charging current is 8A, thst looks like it would take a long time to charge.

Yea i did not check the voltage , you are spot on the battery is flat
 
Maybe the charge current is 220v side 8A which would still equal a mediocre 35A on battery side for a 51.2v system
 
Good morning guys!

Thank you very much for the info and feedback posted. Unfortunately my menu is slightly different, just I posted pics of how my menu looks and is set up. I wrote down all the settings as I got them from the shop then went and set everything to default.
What I have noticed is, the max charge is about 53.5 / 53.8V before it stops charging, does that seem correct?

Appreciate the help guys, I battled about 3 hours last night so I’m pretty gatvol.
 
This is what I woke up to this morning, charged the entire evening, now on bypass, every few minutes it goes green and charges for a few seconds.

Yea often they limit/alter the menu on all in ones

The voltage that it charges to is inline with a 15s 48v battery

While the spec sheets say yours is 51.2v 16S

What is your default settings on menu items 8-11

So 8 has to be default with 16 strings if i go on specs

If it is on 15 strings then it charges to a lower voltage

And menu 10 might cause the item to stop charging fast before it is full - since your battery was flat

ie if the default is 120min
And default charge rate is 40A you can charge 80ah before it stops boost charging

While if your battery is a 100Ah you would need 150 min to get full from empty

If you plan to not go under 20%soc then the default time is fine

Can force another charge session by interrupting the supply power to force it to battery use for a few minutes then when power comes back those timers are reset

The low voltage recovery voltage of 52 is why the battery power uo would not work ie because it ran flat it has to resch 52v first for normal behaviour to resume
 
- Unplugged the power, notified me that it was on battery now.

To get it to start, I now need to put it on charge again.
 
The charging every few minutes may be because the time limit or because as the cells balance the overall voltage dips a bit then it replenishes the charge a bit rinse repeat

Ot because the float voltage setting is too high

Lithium doesn't need a float
So what i have seen on some inverters is it doesn't supply float voltage but instead uses the float voltage as a trigger in Li mode

So it boosts to get it full and the voltage drops to resting

In float mode but if the float voltage setting is higher than the resting voltage it triggers a mini charge session to boost voltage comes to rest below float , rinse repeat

So with a slightly lower/correct float it may stop this behaviour , or when the battery is nicely balanced
 
Then I get this:

Inputbatt starts low but after a few seconds it goes up to 53.8V

Check what menu item 35 is set to

That is the low voltage recovery, ie once a low voltage alarm is triggered it has to reach this voltage before the bms allows normal output again
